Rome is a special comune, which is the capital city of Italy. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the Tiber. Rome also serves as the capital of the Lazio region; it is due to the existence of Vatican City (independent country) a smallest country with in the world inside the boundaries of Rome. It with 2,868,782 residents in 1,285 km2 (496.1 sq. mi), it is also the country's most populated comune. It is the fourth most populous city in the European Union. In 2016 Rome ranked as 14 most visited city in the world.

Rome is global city for education, arts, economy, fashion, tourism, transport, architecture.  Rome is a nationwide and major international center for higher education, containing numerous academies, colleges and universities.   Universities, national radio and television and the movie industry in Rome are also important parts of the economy. Rome has the statues of global city. Rome is the most tourist destination in the world. Rome is the unique in having two sovereign entities located within its city limits, among the global cities.
